About United Stations
United Stations is about everything to do with trains – both literally and metaphorically. The aspiration is for a global network of rail routes, which will probably start maturing around 2050. With this in mind, our sister website, World Tube Map, presents an idea of a tube map for the ‘global village’ of 2050.
Where is United Stations based?
On the train of course! Many of the insights and comments for this blog come from making train journeys, whether short commuter hops in the West Midlands of the UK, where the site owner currently resides, or on high speed rail journeys across Europe.
Zug = train
Our ‘natural’ home is the small city of Zug in Switzerland, as Zug is the German word for train, and also to ‘draw out’, and hence making a connection. United Stations is part of the ‘E = M = 3′ group of websites, which are all about global connectivity. Switzerland has the best network of integrated transport in the world, and is also known for its efforts in promoting neutrality and conflict resolution – this is key, as enabling people to cross borders as freely as possible is a key component of preventing future international disputes.
